About OneRosemount:
A group of Rosemount Leaders made up of The Mayor, Local Pastors, Principals of schools, and many others gathered in the Spring almost 4 years ago now. The purpose was to connect with each other and discuss how as leaders in Rosemount they could be more intentional and proactive in making a positive difference in the lives of children and teens in the community... together. That one meeting has turned into a monthly meeting, it has grown in scope, structure, strategy and of course participants.
The working title of this work had been the Rosemount Leaders Group, but in the summer of 2012 officially re-named the groupOneRosemount. We are better ...together!
Working with Twin Cities-based, non-profit, humanitarian organization, ImpactLives, wewill package, ship and hand deliver meals to Haitian refugees in the Dominican Republic.
Who can participate?
Children from kindergarten through senior adults...
those who live, work, play, attend school or church in Rosemount. Actually, everyone is welcome - the event will simply take place in Rosemount. ☺
You are invited to be one of more than 1,200 volunteers who will gather on one day (through 2-hour and 15 minute shifts) to package nutritious rice/soy meals. One package feeds 6 people. There will be 36 bags per box and 1,320 boxes to fill a shipping container. This equals our goal of 285,120 meals!
“We” also have the privilege to raise $.25 per meal,
$54 per box which totals $71,280.
Three Events in One Day!
Let’s help people across the street as well as around the world! So, in addition to the food-packing event with
Impact Lives, we are having a food drive challenge to see how much non-perishable food we can collect… together - for food shelves in our community. Let’s feed families here and there, because people are in need here too.
In addition, the third component of this event will be a resource fair to help raise awareness and connect people to the wonderful resources and opportunities that are available in Rosemount.
